MARY VALE COMMUNITY PROJECT ELDERLY RESIDENTS DOING WELL

I spent an enjoyable dinner time at the Maryvale Community Centre today with members of the elderly group there.
Members meet on a Tuesday lunch time for a meal and entertainment. Today it was dance lessons which despite a number of requests I refrained from joining in. The dance lessons are far to energetic for me and having 2 left feet does not help either. But is was great to see so many people enjoying them selves.
It is also good to be able to answer questions from the members and try and help resolve some of their concerns.

Maryvale Community Project offers support services to elderly people and adults with learning difficulties in the Oscott,Kingstanding, Great Barr and Pheasey estate areas.
The aim of the project is to engage and improve the mental and physical well being of the elderly in the community, reduce isolation and loneliness, social clubs for adults with learning disabilities, plus many other supporting roles.
The project was started by parishioners from Our Lady of the Assumption Church almost 30 years ago and a few years ago was awarded a Lottery grant to enable their work to continue and expand.
