MY COUNCILLOR SURGERIES

I would just like to remind Oscott Residents I hold surgeries most Saturday mornings at the 610 Community Centre at 10.30am if you would like to come and discuss any issues or concerns with me.
I am always interested to hear what residents have to say.

If you can not make one of my surgeries you can always leave me a message on 360 6486.

I can not promise to resolve or the issues and concerns I hear about but I will try and help if I can.

Why not go one step further than this surgery and get into the sprit of things.
Lets have a local debate with the main local MP's and give people choice at the heart of the community.
Will you stand for this?
Will you allow residents of Kingstanding to grill ouur local MP'S and see what can change and what we can all do to make Kingstanding a better place.

Allow residents to feel involved and give them the chance to see your local ideas and policies.

Im very intrested in your thoughts on this?

Lets find out why we have lack of youth facilities in the centre of Kingstanding?
Why do you insist police chase the kids away rather than engage them and give them something to look towards.
For far too long teenagers in Kingstanding have been the "Troublemakers" in the eyes of MP's around here with so called tough action being taken.
Lets get them involved and lets do something for them.
Lets bring a community centre back to Kingstanding circle and bring pride to the area.
Somewhere for the teenagers to meet up,somehwere for the younger ones to play football and karate and somewhere for the old age pensioners to have a tea dance.

Lets get tough on the Kingstanding Pub its a blight on the landscape with too much anti social behaviour.
Often there are people on the street outside drinking which is against the licence of the premises this is intimidating to many people especially the older residents.

Lets get tough on parking on the circle, even the new YMCA shop allow there drivers to park on the pavement on the circle and Dominos pizza often park in DISABLED bays outside of there shop.

Lets bring play equipment back to local parks like Finchley park or at least try and secure funding.

Many issues in Kingstanding but you NEED TO STAND UP and not take people of Kingstanding for granted no longer.
Lets see real action for real people and lets get everybody involved in the heart of there community

Thank you for your comments.

Firstly I have to say I am not the MP for this area but a mere (back bench) Councillor for the Oscott Ward.
It is also difficult to fairly respond to your comments on this format and that is one of the reasons I have suggested if you are genuinely interested in the area you come along to one of my surgeries. You are welcome to bring a witness if you so wish if it would be of help to you, as I would have no intentions of ducking any issues you would like to raise with me. The only thing I ask is you are prepared to listen to my responses.

There are usually 2 or three Oscott Residents Groups residents community meetings each year which I and all the other Councillors (and MP are invited to attend). I have I am pleased to say a hundred percent turn up rate over the last 4 years.
At these meeting there are all sorts of questions and discussions take place. They are advertised in papers and Libraries.
There is also an opportunity to ask Questions and find out about the area at the Oscott Ward Committees which are held every 2 months.

There was a Perry Barr hustings meeting where the all the candidates including the MP met I understand well over a hundred residents last night by the way.

I have to be honest I am writing this because I am Gob Smacked by the other contributor.
You must be the most effective and well known “mere back bench Councillor” in Birmingham. Perhaps this is why he thinks you are our MP (I wish)
Does this guy not know that you helped get Base KS in Kettlehouse Road off the ground for the youngsters in the area with problems? And as I recall it was you who got the Zebra crossing. He must have forgotten or is trying to wind you up?

BASE KS the same service thats under threat because of the cuts in Childrens services authorised by central goverment?
Or the zebra crossing you refer to?
Why not traffic lights which would have been more effective and safer and helped with speed problems.
Why is it after threatning to run as an independent only several months ago in protest of your lack of action that your turn up on speed watch just before an election?
Dont hide behind a fake contribution i know how to look up IP addresses so im not so stupid as the person implies.
You are failing the basics in Kingstanding and getting it wrong.
You have become complacent in your job as its time for change in the area.
Its a policy your paymaster wants to bring in the RIGHT TO RECALL and if Kingstanding stays like this i will ensure we get enough signatures to ensure that the MP Khalid Mahmood is recalled and all his complacement cronies!

Thank you for your latest comments. We will have to agree to differ I am afraid.
My offer to discuss any issues you raise in more details at one of my surgeries still applies however.
It is a shame that you feel the way that you do but I will leave your comments in place in order that other visitors to my blog can assess them if they so wish.
