NEW SPEED WATCH EQUIPMENT READY FOR ACTION IN OSCOTT

The community Speed Watch team will be out and about in the Oscott area tomorrow trying out their new equipment. I will not tell you where they will be but it will in a road not be that far away .

I wish this new team of resident supported by the Police well and hope that the equipment paid for out of the Oscott Community Chest (fully supported by Councillor Barbara Dring and myself) proves to be just what the doctor ordered.

Community Speed watch is where resident with the support of the Police use speed detecting equipment to identify speeding residents who are then in the first instanced warned by letter by the Police.

If you would like to know more please ring me on 360 6486

Isnt it funny that coming upto an election you were out in force this evening on Kettlehouse Road?
Why has it taken so long to address this issue and why now?
One of my neighbours took this up with you and you ran off.

Not really when you remember that residents in Kettle house Road were informed in a letter from myself sometime back that a Community Speedy initiative would be considered for their road following a number of complaints by residents going back some time.
These complaints were passed on to the Police and the Transportation department regurlay with demands for action. I think you will find this was done by all the ward Councillors?
The Police came up with this idea about Community Speed Watch and the relevant equipment needed about 6 months ago and asked for funding.
It was then agreed by the Oscott Ward Advisory Board and to use Community Chest money. All the Oscott Councillors at a following Ward Committee meeting, some time later and the funding was put into the system which takes a fair time to come through. Once the Police got the money they started training volunteers and their own officers.
As for the exact timing and locations the Police decide themselves and inform volunteers and Councillors.
Hope this helps.

O yes I did speak to a resident in Ketttlehouse Road about the subject yesterday and offered to have a chat with him about it a one of my surgeries that offer is open to all.
