REMEMBER TO HONOUR DISABLED PARKING BAYS.

I have been working for some time with the Oscott Disability Group to try and make motorists aware that they should not abuse disabled bay markings. Along with Mr Hough the Chair of the ODG we have managed to persuade the Council to introduce a number of these bays across the ward over the last few years.
The problem is the enforcement of these bays. I regularly bring up this subject with the Police at their Tasking Group meeting, and with the Transportation department, but some of these bays are not controlled by the Council for example.
Another issue of concern is when some disabled residents who has a disabled bay marking out side their home move away the marking remains. I am trying to get the Transportation department to look into this issue as car spaces for none disabled drivers is at a premium in many roads.
I would urge all motorist to please honour disabled bays as those who need them can really struggle when there are none available.

Another of my concerns here that you mention?
My ideas for Kingstanding popping up everywhere here now.
Have i got you worried now about my ideas for the area?

WHAT ABOUT DOMINOS PIZZA ON KINGSTANDING CIRCLE PARKING IN THE DISABLED BAYS EVERY EVENING?
Always there and ive even told the manager several times and they are still there.

Also YMCA Kingstanding Circle are always parking on the actual pavement outside of there shop?

Why not write to both of these units and explain there errors and see if this can change.

I am prepared to call a partial truce here.....
Even though deep down im a converted Tory Voter and they will get my vote im afraid :)
I want whats right for Kingstanding.
Lets try and work together here and see what we can do.
I dont want the surgery nonsense here as i have a family and dont have the time.
Ill give you the younger view point and lets see what we can do.

I suppose we are looking at a hung parliment so lets have a joining of heads here?

Hopefully you will take the chance to read the other blog with some real questions.
I will be updating this blog with all things wrong in Kingstanding so that you can keep on top of things.

Thank you for your email.
I am pleased that you are interested in this issue and wish more peopled showed as much concern.
I have as indicated however been dealing with this issue with the Oscott Disability Group for some time and will continue to do so.
Given the amount of issues you are quite rightly concerned about I am sure you will read on my blog about number of them in the future (there have been a number of them raised in the past as well.
May I asure you what ever your politics I am always interested in people who care about the area we live in even if at times we will have to agree to differ.

Thank you for your email.

I must be the only Councillor in Birmingham who has some one writing a blog about him. I may be wrong.?
I am almost as sure I am the only one who would respond in this way?

As to responding to your blog.

I will look at it from time to time and if you have points I am not already dealing with (or are trying to) I will be only too pleased to try and help.
I will respond to it as a feel it is appropriate.*

I have given you a verbal response as to why the Police were present at their Community Speed Watch event. Please feel free to verify what I told you with them.

As for Booths Lane there are a number of posts about it on by blog. For example after a considerable period I have helped by local resident managed to get many of the pot holes filled in. including the one in the picture by the Council.
Along with other Councillors I am continuing to press the current Council to take action to deal with the problem on a permanent basis. Currently the Council (as previous ones have also) rejected calls by Residents and my self to adopt the Lane. The battle continues and I a willing to work with any one interested in dealing with the subject in a genuine way.

Frankly as to my sartorial appearance I will please my self.

With regards to the Kingstanding public House I have requested the Police deal with this situation on occasions as I am sure so have Councillors from other parties.

*I understand you are a busy man and find it difficult to get to my Saturday surgeries but I still hold they are the best way to find out what I am trying to do in the area and to give me your point of view.

I do not run away from questions but if you do not like my answers we must agree to differ.
