DONT LET YOUR HEDGE OBSTRUCT THE PAVEMENT

I receive a number of complaints form Oscott resident every year about hedges obstructing pavements. This can be very annoying and effects particularly disabled residents in wheel chairs and parents with children in push chairs. Over hanging hedges and bushes also attract litter and accumulations of dog mess.

I would ask anyone thinking of planting a front hedge to think carefully about what plants are to be used and how the hedge will be maintained. Those with over grown hedges I would suggest purchase a decent pair of pruning shears and start pruning before the hedge starts to take off in the spring.
I have asked the Highways department to look into this "growing problem"!
