YES YOU CAN EXERCISE YOUR DOG OFF THE LEAD IN THE QUESLETT NATURE RESERVE

I have had a number of worried dog owners contact me regarding whether the new rules which have come out about dog controls mean they cannot let their dogs off the lead in parks and nature Reserves.
I can advise you that the new Orders allow for dogs to be exercised off a lead in parks and open spaces throughout Birmingham. However, if a dog is causing a nuisance or a danger to other park users then an authorised officer can request that the dog be put and kept on a lead. A failure to comply with that request is an offence, which may be dealt with by a £80 Fixed Penalty Notice.

The restriction for dogs to be held on a lead applies only to public road, adjoining foot ways and grass verges and dogs are not permitted in clearly demarcated children’s play areas.

The dog fouling order requires the owner or person in charge of a dog to remove dog faeces from all publicly accessible land, this will include all parts of Sutton Park and the Queslett Nature Reserve.

PLEASE ENSURE YOUR DOGS DO NOT DISTURB THE WILD LIFE
