BASE KS TO CLOSE

The services offered from Base KS will cease at the end of May. Leading up to the closure and afterwards, young people will be signposted to the most appropriate organisations for their needs, including 610 Youth Centre which is only a short distance away. Oscott was fortunate to have to two facilities offering services to young people and the very full and varied programme at 610 YC will continue.
The 3 Oscott Councillors have for a long time supported this facility but have to recognise with the amount of cuts forced on it  by the Government the Council needs to withdraw funding for some facilities.
Should the government ever have a change of heart and start funding Birmingham fairy again who knows we may see a number of facilities re open across the city.

Many Oscott residents may not be aware that Base KS was set up with the support of Oscott and Kingstanding Councillors when other were showing no interest, to help and advise Young people find work, learn about sexual health and so on.
Some of this work is now however also  being carried out by a number of voluntary organisations.
