RESIDENTS CONCERNS ABOUT CONTAMINATED BOOTHS LANE DEVELOPERS LAND

A number of local residents have expressed concerns about the possibility that the Booths Lane site under threat of development may be contaminated.
I can inform them that the developer of the Booths Land Taylor Wimpey site will be required to carry out further investigative work to determine contamination (including gas issues) if the development is approved. At this point in time the Planing department feel that such issues can be dealt with under the Planning conditions regarding the matter..

In terms of the remainder of the golf course land  outside the current application site, gas may also be identified as an issue there as well and any prospective use/development of it for any other purpose may also require investigative works and or remedial measures to tackle any potential harm that is identified as part of that investigation. This would mean that this is an issue, and possible cost, that anyone wishing to take on the remainder of the golf course should be aware of.
I will be asking the Planning department to keep me updated regarding this matter.
