THE COUNCIL NO LONGER SUPPLY BLACK OR GREEN BAGS

It has come to my attention that some residents in Oscott are still unaware that the Council no longer supply green and black bags.
There have been articles in the newspapers, in the Forward and on my blog and I have now been informed there will be further reminders in the future.

This situation has partly come about due to the huge cuts in Council funding from the Government (10% further cuts announced only recently) It was not an easy decision to make.
It is also  likely following consultation, a £35 charge will be made for green waste collection at some point in the future
Bags can be purchased from supermarkets and £1 shops through out the area.
On a brighter note Council tax has not been raised this year to take account for the ever rising inflation rates (now 3.1%) which would have meant an extra average £30 for many people.

I have asked the Council to remind residents they must buy their own bags in future.
